Meaghan & Matt's Wedding

Meaghan & Matt's wedding was the perfect end to the year. We started out at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel where Meaghan & her bridesmaids & moms prepared for the day. Everyone looked stunning in their dresses - the girls chose their own favorite black cocktail dress & patent leather pumps to wear and they carried gorgeous white bouquets, while Meaghan stood stunning in a custom dress with an amazing lace bodice & straps & carried a bouquet of breathtaking red flowers. Saint Mary's Church was equally breathtaking! The second I walked into the cathedral, I was ecstatic. It definitely is the prettiest church I've ever photographed a wedding in! Even though we didn't have much time in the church for photos, Meaghan & Matt had a trolley pick up the bridal party after the ceremony that took us to the pier and downtown Annapolis for some fun bridal party photos & more relaxed images of the bride and groom together.
From the picture of Meaghan's grandfather pinned to her bouquet & the Irish handkerchief, to her "something blue" where her bridesmaids wrote notes on her wedding shoes, to the draped & beautifully lit reception ballroom and the cupcake bar that matched the wedding colors - Every aspect of the wedding was planned out perfectly!
Meaghan & Matt changed out of their wedding shoes into bride and groom Toms to dance the night away with their guests. And good thing they did, because I think they were on the dance floor more than any couple I've photographed! Matt was by far the best groom to be on the dance floor almost the entire night, and Meaghan amazed everyone with her awesome rapping skills - reciting every word to Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind!"

Lizzie's Senior Portraits

Last weekend, I had the best morning spending it with Lizzie & her mom taking her senior portraits around her family farm. I could tell from the first second I met Lizzie, from her beautiful smile, that she was gorgeous both inside and out. Her sister, Sarah, helped her with her outfit choices & I think she got a lot of variety in her images. (Do you remember Sarah from her senior pics in 2008?)

Family Portrait Marathon!

Despite me feeling a bit under the weather, Sunday was a great success with some absolutely beautiful families and fun experiences at the covered bridge. The morning started out super chilly, and I can say it was the first time I've photographed a family in the fog! (which makes for gorgeous light!) Thanks so much to the Schaffer, Stonesifer, Rasche, and Putman families for spending time with me on Sunday!

Kevin & Kendra's Wedding Highlights!

The weather did not cooperate last Saturday, but that didn't stop the amazingly beautiful Carmack wedding from working out perfectly indoors at Boulder Ridge Lodge at Ski Liberty Resort in Pennsylvania. The decorations were impeccable, where their antique/vintage and autumn theme came together perfectly along with a gorgeous filigree handmade cake by the groom's mom, favors of hot chocolate in tiny glass jars, tissue paper flowers attached to the ceremony chairs, and even a wood burned sign over the fireplace. Kendra looked stunning in her gown, and even got to sneak a peak at her ceremony site from the balcony overlooking the fireplace while she and her bridesmaids prepared on the loft. Kevin's host of groomsmen and best men stood by his side as he said I DO and helped him celebrate throughout the rest of the evening.
I have photographed Kevin several times during the growth of my photography career; Kevin has been a friend of our family for what seems like forever. It was a pleasure to be able to spend the evening celebrating their love for each other and capturing the fun. We enjoyed having someone else to help us carry our camera bags out to the car at the end of the evening (thanks dad and Matt!)

Amber & Zach's Wedding

Last weekend, Amber & Zach got married at Amber's childhood home in Keymar, MD. I grew up spending hours at their house around the farm, so it was pretty cool to capture Amber's big day, especially at a place with so many memories & meaning.
I never thought I would ever have a photo of a bride jumping into a pool in her wedding dress, but today is the day that I add it to my collection :)

Tim & Kathy's Wedding

A few weeks ago, Tim and Kathy got married at Circle D Farm in Woodbine, MD, surrounded by family and friends ready to celebrate with them. The bridal party was so much fun to work with, even though I made them trek around in the heat to take lots of photos! Kathy's color scheme was my favorite (purple!) and all of her decorations & details all came together perfectly.
The reception was a blast...the dance floor was packed most of the night as the DJ played song after song. I think I even felt the floor moving from all of the jumping and singing!

Michael & Judy's Wedding

Here are the highlights of Judy & Mike's very special wedding at the downtown Baltimore restaurant, Rusty Scupper, overlooking the Inner Harbor. Judy has been commenting on how the time flew by during the wedding day, so I hope these photos help to bring back the great memories of the day and all of the time and creativity she put into planning a perfect outing for her guests. From the pink and green flavored jelly beans, to the strawberry iced cupcakes (and the MD crab on their cake topper) to the signature Black Eyed Susan and Sangria drinks, not a detail was overlooked. And their guests were a blast! We took a large group photo immediately following the ceremony and they kept joking and laughing as I was trying not to fall off of the roof of the building to get the shot!
Judy and Mike: you two were wonderful! Thank you for letting me be creative and capture the essence of your wedding day in my photos!

Baby Connor!

I was so happy to be able to capture newborn baby Connor at only eight days old last week! We had some great ideas for him, but he seemed to be more interested in sleeping in grandma and grandpa's arms or eating! But I still think we got some amazing photos of him. My favorite is the one with the boxing gloves...his dad used to be a boxer, so it means a lot!

We spent last night at the beautiful Rusty Scupper restaurant for Judy & Mike's big day. I know they are heading on their honeymoon tomorrow morning, so I promised Judy I would post some photo highlights so she could see some before they left! Baby Robinson

I wanted to wait to post photos of Baby Robinson until after he was born. Thursday, Conner finally made his grand entrance, and I am so happy that I was able to capture some photos of his mom, Carly, dad, John, & big brother, Finn, together with him before he was born! I love how happy they look & how comfortable they are together.
You guys will make great parents! Can't wait to meet baby Conner next week!

Erin's Headshots

Erin is auditioning for community theater in a few weeks and needed a headshot to go along with her resume. We tried a bit everything; indoor studio lighting as well as outdoor natural light. I think Erin's favorite happened to be the outside photos. I think the green outdoors really brought out her bright eye color.
Erin, I know that you don't need a good photo to help you land a role in one of the plays, but I hope it will be a photo that they will remember! I can't wait to hear the good news!

Spring

After today's rainstorms and the mix of hot and cold weather we've been having, I'm not sure if spring weather is here to stay or not. I walk past these beautiful tulips at work every day, and I finally took a few minutes to take some macro photos of them. I'm definitely not a nature photographer; I had a hard time waiting for the wind to stop blowing them around so I could get a good focused image (using a manual focusing lens!)
I hope you enjoy these photos. I'm hoping to be able to take some more spring images around our house. There are some amazing little gardens around the rowhomes in our neighborhoods!

Saturday, I spent the afternoon with an amazing couple with great family and friends all gathering to celebrate their big day. The wedding ceremony & reception took place at the Sheraton Hotel in Towson, where we scoped out beautiful places to take photos (where the walls in the hotel happened to match the wedding colors!) These two were so in love...smiling at each other even from across the room and laughing at all of the fun traditions that played out throughout the day with their families.

I was so happy that my great friend, Erica, referred Jaime to me as they were friends in college at Towson University. I immediately felt a connection with Jaime, and knew that we would have a blast the day of her wedding. Both her and Brian were so easy to talk to and I felt like they trusted me with each pose I put them in and each crazy idea I had for photos. (Except for the piano photos, which I cannot take credit for; thanks to the groomsmen for those!)

Stephen & Megan's Wedding

Stephen and Megan...

I can't even begin to explain how much love could be seen between the two of them on their wedding day. I don't think I've ever seen a groom that smiled more than Stephen. We had an amazing time in La Plata, MD as Megan got ready with her gorgeous bridesmaids. They had the perfect house for photos and the perfect backdrop of freshly fallen snow for some fun outdoor photos. The groomsmen were all geared up as well and were happy to step outside in the cool air for some portraits before the ceremony.

Megan interned with my boss and I a few years ago and has stayed in touch. When she got engaged, she quickly "booked" us as her photographers and the rest of the planning seemed to fall in place as her and Stephen planned a wedding in La Plata, while living in Norfolk, VA! Every part of the wedding was memorable; even the limo ride to the reception that didn't quite make it the whole way!

I wanted to try something different to feature Stephen & Megan's photos. There were so many images that I chose in my first edit, so I decided to make a short video with some beautiful highlights.

Gearing up for a Winter Wedding

This morning I have a delay for work due to the snow, so I worked on getting my gear together for Megan & Stephen's winter wedding on Saturday in La Plata. And of course, I couldn't let you down without posting a few photos of Ruger! He was enjoying playing outside in the 8 or so inches we got in Baltimore & even one of him watching the snow out the window. (the pics are out of order, but still!) I could tell he was busting to go outside & play, so I was happy to have some free time this morning when it was light outside to take him out!

Holiday Portraits

After a quick trip to NYC for work, I returned and have stayed super busy since my last wedding of 2010 in November. Close friends & family asked me to take some holiday portraits of them, and since I hope most cards are already sent out, I wanted to share a few of my favorite images.

My neighbors all got together for an annual portrait of the entire family, and I even was able to get two small children to "grin" without any Photoshop work! The day got really fun when Grandpa dressed up as Santa Clause & the almost two year-old wasn't sure what to think!

I also took my first night portraits of our aunt and her children. I think we picked the coldest and most windy night of the year, but I still think we came out with some really nice family portraits. They really had my creativity swarming...and we ended up finding some nice backgrounds for photos, even when it was dark outside!

And I've been wanting to take photos of my dear friend, Becca, for months now, as her pup, Annabelle, and Ruger are best buddies and playmates. We had some fun at a local park and even did a bit of train dodging!

I hope everyone has a very Happy Holiday and enjoys whatever break from work they have. Stay warm & Keep Smiling!!! :)

Kristen & Matt's Wedding

Kristen & Matt got married in a beautiful church in Towson and celebrated their reception at the Pier V Hotel at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore last Sunday. The day was absolutely beautiful, and everything about the wedding was perfect!

Kristen & her girls looked stunning as they prepared for the day, and Matt & his groomsmen were cool & collected as they waited for the ceremony to begin.

My favorite part of the day was having time after the formal photos in the church to take photos around the lighthouse by Pier V and to use the Baltimore skyline as the background for their images with their bridal party and some by themselves. From the black & white dance floor to the cookies & milk set-up as the night went on, the party never seemed to slow down. Everyone seemed to have an amazing time celebrating in a beautiful location.

Kristen & Matt, I hope you love these highlight photos. I think you will be very happy with all of them! Congrats on your beautiful day!!! :)

Craig & Christine's Wedding

I couldn't help but post this many photos of Craig & Christine's wedding. I took SO many photos of their beautiful fall day. Their wedding colors stood out perfectly against the golf course grounds and changing colors of the trees overlooking the ceremony site.

Craig & Christine got married at the Links in Gettysburg last weekend. We were looking forward to their wedding since last year when they booked me and after we had so much fun during their engagement session last fall. You might recognize a few of the bridal party members as well, as both Rebekah & Alex, and Liv & Andy were all part of the bridal party, as well as past clients of mine! My brother, Matthew, was also in the bridal party, along with some other great friends of Craig & Christine. All of the bridal party was especially awesome, because they all stood on the edge of the bridge on the golf course for me to get some amazing photos with the sunset and reception site in the background. I could tell they were hesitant about my idea, but were up for it none the less!

And I loved how happy both Craig and Christine both looked. Christine's dress looked amazing on her, and I could tell that Craig was having a good time at his wedding because he was out there on the dance floor most of the night!!! And those bright orange heels that Christine wore peeked out from under her dress to bring such a pop of color to the photos.

I'm so happy for you both. I hope you had an amazing time in Jamaica, and I hope you love each and every one of these photos. There are so many more that I want to share, but these are some of my very favorites! Congrats to you both!!!

Kerry & Chris ~ Engaged!

I told myself that I could only blog eight photos, and these are just the start of the fun images I took of Kerry & Chris to document their engagement together. Kerry is one of my best friends...we met in college, lived on the same floor our freshman year, and continued our friendship into "real" life :) I remember meeting Chris for the first time and thinking what a great guy he is for Kerry. Since I knew them so well, it was easy for me to photograph them. I knew they would be up for anything, and I tried a few new styles with this shoot (which included laying on a boat dock in white capris, being hoisted up into a boat on a lift, laying in a pumpkin patch, and jumping in the middle of a street, so I took advantage of that & we had an amazing time!

We started at Chris' childhood home in Annapolis for the maritime images and finished at Papa John's farm in Glen Burnie, MD for our autumn themed photos. And of course, we had to add in a little bit of Raven's love too!!! :)

I was so honored when Kerry asked me if I would take engagement photos for her and Chris. I am also honored to be a bridesmaid in their wedding next September (2 days after Matt & my anniversary!!!) and I'm so excited for the fun planning & get-togethers to take place in the next year. I hope you both love these photos, and there are many more that I think you will fall in love with! Thanks for letting me document your love & cuteness!!! :) Love you guys!

Erica & Andrew ~ Engagement

Erica & Andrew started out my Sunday morning right. We met at Starbucks in Towson, and Erica had my favorite drink waiting for me. I knew it was going to be a great day :) Erica knows me well...having been an photo intern for us at Towson a few years ago & now a freelance photographer, she knew how much better I operate with a good cup of coffee ;)

The sun was shining and it actually warmed up quickly while we were out taking pictures. We started at Loch Raven Reservoir where we found spots of beautiful morning light and dew on grass that made for some beautiful highlights in the photos. The two of them were so funny and were constantly making each other crack up.

After we walked & drove around the woods & scenic spots around the reservoir, we headed to Towson's football stadium, where they met in marching band & had some fun playing aroud with photos on the football field and stands. Erica & Andrew are both in the same fraternity family, so they wore their letters proudly & were all smiles as we finished up their session.

It was so hard to choose a few of my favorites to showcase on the blog. I know you guys are probably busting to see these images, and I hope you love them. Erica, I hope you get used to being in front of the camera instead of the operator, because you were beautiful, and I know your wedding photos will be just as awesome! :)

Something's gotta change, because the most recent photo I have of mom & I together is from Thanksgiving of last year when we went to the Macy's Day Parade. While I love the photo, I learned that we need to take more pictures of us together!
Today is my mom's birthday, and I'm so sad that I'm missing celebrating with her. I'm working all day at Towson because it's family weekend. (Kind of ironic that I'm going to be spending time with other families, but not my own) :( Anyway, my amazing hubby is there hanging out for the day, and I know that I'll get to see her a lot once it gets colder and the semester at TU slows down a bit.

The Ebaugh Family!

On Sunday, I started my morning with a refreshing session with two of the most beautiful baby girls I have ever met, along with their amazing families and grandparents. We traveled to Pennsylvania to take photos of the girls, who had traveled from Philidelphia, PA and Denver, CO to visit family, and they wanted to schedule a photo shoot along with their stay.

The girls, Lily and Aspen, were great models. It was funny to see all of the commotion and noise we had to make to get their attention towards the camera. Their personalities are so unique, even at only five months old! I think I captured some great images, and I hope they will be ones the families will treasure for years! Thank you for thinking so highly of my work and asking me to photograph your family...I had a wonderful time!!!

Baby Hailey (and Big Brother Andrew)

A few weekends ago, I finally had my camera and was able to take some "official" photos of baby Hailey, my neighbor's second beautiful baby. You might remember her big brother, Andrew, from posts before. I wasn't able to get to the hospital when miss Hailey was born, but I was so happy to be able to take photos of her with all of her cute girly stuff! Her closet is full of adorable outfits, so it was really hard to decide what to put her in. I just loved the first photo when we put her on the afghan...she fell asleep in such a cute position (although it didn't seem very comfy!) And of course, I had to take some photos of Andrew while I was there. He was showing off his toy tractor in his soon-to-be new bedroom! These kids are just so cute...and I love being able to capture photos of them when I come to visit!

Meet Elijah!

A few weekends ago, I met up with a great family at the "duck pond" in Westminster to take photos of seven month old baby Eli. He had never had any professional portraits taken yet, and I'm so happy his parents contacted me to take them! It was a bit windy that day, but Eli was a champ! He definitely told us when he was finished with pictures, but not before I was able to get a bunch of adorable photos and even a few big smiles! Even the ducks in the background were happy, because Eli's dad went to buy bread especially for them, so we could have them in the background for his pictures by the water! I hope everyone LOVES this little guy's photos!

Happy Birthday Ruger!

Today is the day we are celebrating Ruger's first birthday. We're really not sure when he was born, since he was a shelter puppy, but we have an idea that it was the beginning of September and decided we would celebrate on the first of each year. I made him peanut butter doggie biscuits last night and put some in baggies to hand out to his neighbor dog friends :)

I can't believe he's already a year old. He's also already 70 pounds! He really has been the best dog we could ever have asked for. His demeanor is wonderful, and he is such a lovebug!

Hope you all enjoy these birthday pics. Of course, we had to celebrate with party hats this morning, and he got a new food bowl for his birthday, so I caught him eating breakfast in the second photo enjoying his new bowls.

Kelsey's Senior Portraits

This past Sunday, mom and I photographed Kelsey's senior portraits on her family farm. You might remember her from the family portraits I took last year (jumping off of the haybales!)

We had an awesome marathon senior session starting with some formal photos of Kelsey for her yearbook photo. She wasn't very happy with the photos she got taken at the school, so I hope I got some that she will really love (I couldn't pick my favorite, and I know the two formal ones are so similar, but I love them both for different reasons!)

After her formal portraits, we took advantage of the beautiful house and backgrounds that were all over the property and matched her outfits to what looked best. She has the most beautiful eyes that really showed great in the natural light. I really loved ending with Summer, her gorgeous horse as we got some amazing action shots as well as some priceless shots of the two interacting.

Kelsey, I hope you LOVE these photos. I know it's been a long wait, but I hope it was worth it! Thanks for being so prepared with outfits and ideas...we had a blast!!! :)

Andy & Liv's Wedding!

This past Saturday was the most hot weather I've ever worked in, and I realized that if I can survive the heat of the day and get photos like this, then I can do anything!

Andy and Liv's wedding took place on University of Maryland's campus in College Park. They both met during college and couldn't think of a better place to have their wedding. Liv actually works there now, and they share an apartment on campus, which made everything very convenient.

Their day began as Liv got into her beautiful dress at a nearby hotel and Andy walked from their on campus apartment to the West Chapel with his groomsmen. I took a few portraits of them before the ceremony separate, but I could really tell a difference in their smiles and nerves after the ceremony. They were simply beaming after they were announced as husband and wife :) I love the shot of them coming out of the chapel and kissing...it really captures them! (thanks, mom!!!*)

After the ceremony, we took all of their family photos in the chapel and then quickly did a few portraits of the two of them and a few bridal party photos. Then, we headed to Mulligan's at the University Golf Course for the reception, which was so nice & relaxing. They had a beautiful black and white dance floor with purple clothed tables surrounding the glass room. Along with champagne toasts and a sweet bridal party dance to include their friends, the newlyweds cut the most delicious wedding cake I think I've ever had (and yes, I did get a piece of cake!)

Since their reception was over around 5:30pm, it made for the perfect time of day to capture some more relaxed photos of Liv and Andy and their bridal party around the campus. I loved having so much time to create some stunning images of them and their close friends together at a place that means so much to them. I think my favorite fun shots after the reception had to be at the big "M" flower emblem at the entrance of the campus, where I stood on the roof of my mom's car to capture some great school spirit shots!

Liv and Andy, I know you've been patiently waiting these highlight photos. I hope they were worth the wait, and I hope you have an amazing time on your cruise. Can't wait to hear all about it when you return! Thank you for letting me run you all around campus for these photos...it was great to know you trusted me and wanted me to "go nuts" to get some great shots for you!!!

Keri & Jim's Wedding

Keri & Jim's wedding day was a hot one. But we still managed to sneak outside for some amazing portraits at each location with them and the bridal party including some of the most beautiful and colorful wedding colors and flowers. I've known Keri since we both were really little, and it was so much fun to be the photographer at her wedding and see so many fun familiar faces during the day!

I really LOVE the portraits of Keri that I took at her parent's house. She was smiling ear to ear as she walked out of the bedroom after getting dressed. You could tell she was thrilled to be getting married!
We started in Littlestown, PA for her bridal portraits, family, and bridesmaid photos, and then we headed straight to the church to capture photos of Jim & his (many) men and boys that were part of his bridal party. The little boys kept me busy...making sure they were all looking and smiling at the same time!

The ceremony was at the church Keri grew up going to, Trinity Lutheran Church in Taneytown, and then the reception was at the beautiful Wakefield Valley Golf Course in Westminster, MD. I also had a great time working with Marshall of Maverick Productions Videography company capturing all of the action on the dance floor.

Keri & Jim, I know you are enjoying the Carribbean right now, soaking up the sun, but I can't wait for you to come back home & see these highlights from your special day. I think you will be pleased :)

Hawaii

Right before Sarah & Tony's wedding, Matt & I got back from the beautiful Hawaiian islands. I just had to post one of my favorite images of one of the turtles we got to snorkel with! It was an amazing trip, and I can't wait to post some highlights of our trip. The landscapes were amazing to see, and I took way too many photos! Right now, my wedding editing is taking first seat!

Sarah & Tony's Wedding!

Last night, we photographed Sarah & Tony's beautiful summer wedding at Boulder Ridge at Liberty Mountain. It rained all morning, but when it came time to take photos before the wedding, the sun shined & everything was perfect. Sarah was a picture perfect bride and I think the most relaxed girl I've ever photographed on her wedding day!

Sarah & Tony decided to have a first look and see each other before the ceremony so that they could take photos prior and be able to enjoy the reception with their guests in the evening without taking time for photos afterwards. The timeline worked out great, and their first look was priceless! I loved taking their first photos together all around the property.

After we finished the formal photos, Sarah & Tony signed the Ketubah, the Jewish marriage contract with their family and friends witnessing their marriage. Then, the ceremony took place outdoors on the patio & the cocktail hour and reception in the rustic lodge on Liberty Mountain.

After dinner & toasts, the night went on with plenty of dancing. I don't remember seeing the dance floor empty the entire night! They danced to the Hora & put Sarah, Tony, and also Sarah's parents up on chairs in the middle of the circles!

The entire day was amazing, and I'm so glad I was able to be part of Sarah & Tony's wedding. I hope you both have an amazing time on your honeymoon, and I hope these photos with help you re-live last night before you leave! Congrats to you both!!!

Grad Gift :)

These pics are a few weeks old, but I finally got a chance to post a few snapshots of my brother's graduation gift that Matt & I gave him. I really didn't want to just give him cash, so I decided it would be funnier, more annoying, and hilarious to fill his bedroom at home with over 140 maroon & orange balloons (100 with $1 bills in them!)

I figured also that he could either get really annoyed at me for filling his room or he would laugh & love it. The later occurred, and I think he actually enjoyed spending time popping all of them & collecting his gift :)

I had this idea for a while, and I'm really glad I didn't chicken out. It was a blast filling them all up with mom (and help from dad's air compressor) and only took about 2 hours! The pups weren't sure what to think of all the balloons, but Ruger & Porthos finally decided to check it all out, although we weren't able to get a picture of them in the room!

I will plan to hide all of my spare keys to my house from my brother if and when I ever have another big event happen in my life ;)

Gail & Jerod have the perfect place to take family portraits. We took them at their farm house just down the road from my parent's house! Their children were so great to work with & smiled, even despite the rain we were dodging to get the photos taken outside! I just LOVE the mommy/daughter, daddy/son images...they are so special! :)

What a great family! Sunday morning, I photographed previous wedding clients- Stacey, Brandon, and their adorable daughter, Chloe, at Loy's Station Covered Bridge near Thurmont, MD. Chloe kept me busy, running around the playground and bribing me (I got her to smile only after I ran across the playground bridge following her!) We also got their yellow lab, Koby in a few shots as well as Stacey's sister, Kellee, who graduated a few hours after the photos were taken. (Congrats, Kellee!) Even though the weather threatened our photos, we were still able to get some great images that I hope they will treasure for years!

I realized today is a random day to start counting down, but we are 3 weeks & 2 days away from our much needed vacation to HAWAII!!! The full 6 pack will be together again very soon & we can't wait to spend some time relaxing. It's going to be an amazing trip :) This picture above is from last weekend when we spent the day at Matt & rest of the Washington College alumni.

Oh, and the Ruger photo is not random...Today, Ruger is 9 months old! (From our guess when he was born) So I sang Happy Birthday to him only for him to stare at me and wag his tail because his mom was acting silly & giving him extra treats. I don't think he minded at all, and I think he wishes he had a birthday celebration every day. I figured no one would mind seeing another photo of a cute puppy dog, right?!?

The "storm" tonight did its job...it feels a lot cooler than it was earlier, but it's still really hot for late May-And it hasn't even rained yet. Matt, Ruger, & I checked out the crazy lightning by the park at our house a few minutes ago. I had the best weekend last week...Matt & I left late Thursday night from Towson with the car packed and spent the night at my parent's house. The next morning, the "hokie-mobile" complete with every imaginable VT sticker decal made the trek to Blacksburg to celebrate my awesome brother's graduation from the ocean engineering department. It really was an awesome weekend...we brought Ruger, and him and my brother's dog, Porthos, kept each other company while we attended the ceremonies.

I really wish every graduate could be this great of a model for me. Matthew kept looking over for photos & when I asked him to wave from the stage, he did! I was super nervous and shaking while taking pictures when his name was called, but I was actually able to capture some great shots. And I have to say, we were the #1 fans-sitting in the front row with the 8 foot long OE sign my mom made to show our support :)

I'm so pround of him & so happy for his success! Now it's on to the real world ;)

Birthday Trip to the Zoo

For my birthday this year, Matt & I spent the day at the Baltimore Zoo. We live so close to it, and kept saying we want to go, and we finally blocked off the day to enjoy it. I was a little disappointed that there is no longer a tiger at the zoo, but other than that, I had a blast. Matt, thankfully, carried our bookbag with my camera in it and a rather heavy lens, so I have to thank him for lugging it around and not getting annoyed by me stopping every ten feet to get some of these shots. These are just a few, but some of my favorites from the day.

I'll try to be better about blogging in the next few weeks. Work at Towson has been so busy!

I'm so glad we've had a span of beautiful weather...finally! I walk past these gorgeous tulips everyday on my way into work, and I took the time yesterday to get some photos of them. I like this photo a lot, because it's not the usual angle that you see tulips...it's more of a bug's view :) I changed my desktop background to one of these photos because it makes me smile & puts me in a good mood. Mike & Kelly's Engagement

My husband & I had the best time visiting with great friends this past weekend in New Jersey. Mike & Kelly are getting married in June, and Matt is one of the groomsmen in their wedding. Mike & Matt were roomates in college, and it was great to be able to spend the weekend with them touring their beautiful home they've started for themselves, get to meet their adorable cat, and check out the sites around the area.

If you ever need custom furniture, Mike is the one to contact. He has made the most breath-taking pieces of furniture that grace the inside of their home together, as well as many other families homes. He has somehow convinced Kelly to transform their two car garage into a workshop for his talented woodworking skills :) And Kelly is quite handy herself, as she has wallpapered their dining room, and made the absolute best crumb cake & homemade granola I've ever tasted!
Mike & Kelly were hoping to use one of the photos I snapped this past weekend as the guest book signing mat at their wedding, and I'm honored that they asked me to capture their last few months as an engaged couple together. After all, they were the ones who caught the bouquet & garter at our wedding! We really can't wait to celebrate with them!

Greater Baltimore's Junior Miss Program

This past Saturday, I photographed the second year of the Greater Baltimore's Junior Miss Program. I was a participant in the program during my junior year of high school and was so happy to photograph the event again this weekend and to capture images of the seven talented ladies who competed this year. All of the girls were shining stars on the stage. As well as being talented and beautiful, the girls were also talented scholars with high GPAs and great potential. It was a pleasure to photograph such a great group of ladies!
On another note, today marks my 100th Post on my blog!!! :) I wish I would blog more often, but life happens. I try to at least post a few images of most of my freelance jobs, as well as the occasional Ruger photo or fun image. I hope everyone who reads my blog enjoys what I post :)

I never get tired of taking photos of Ruger. Last weekend, Matt & I traveled to my parent's house and took Ruger for a long walk, which ended with a game of fetch in the creek. We couldn't believe that he jumped in the cold water, but that retriever instinct must have set in! I also was able to snap a few shots on my brother's dog, Porthos, and Ruger together. Getting one dog to look at the camera is hard enough, but with the two of them, it was quite a challenge! I'm looking forward to spring weather and warmer temperatures so that Ruger can spend more time outside & I have more photo opportunities!!!

Andrew's One Year Birthday Photo Shoot

Saturday I had such an amazingly fun day playing with soon-to-be one year old Andrew. (My neighbor from home!) He is growing up to be such a handsome baby...he had the cutest expressions during our photo shoot. I can't wait to share all the photos with his family next Sunday at his birthday party. I thought it was the best gift to give, considering Paula has been like a sister to me since I was born. I am so happy for her and her husband, Mike. They have a great little man!

Blizzard Aftermath

Aside from enjoying some time off from work and getting some housework completed due to the snow, another positive about all of the snow we got were these beautiful icicles. They showed up the morning after Matt shoveled off the deck roof. I've taken photos of the morning noon, and night, and they are so beautiful! We are starting to think we should pull them down so they don't fall or pull down our rain spout, but they are just so pretty, it's hard to decide :)

2010 Snow

So far, we have survived the snow of 2010. Our cars took an hour each to shovel out yesterday. And the roads are still covered in inches of packed down snow. It's pretty amazing to see how many cars are actually trying to drive today! Ruger is loving all of this snow. He loves climbing to the top of the snow piles and eating snowballs!

Jackson's Senior Photos

This past weekend, I spent some time with a great family in downtown Ellicott City taking photos of Jackson, a senior in high school, who will be graduating this spring, and his two brothers. We started at their house, taking some "formal" photos for Jackson's school yearbook, and then headed out for some more fun photos in casual clothes.

I really enjoyed spending time with the family, and loved photographing in a new location! Congrats Jackson on your upcoming graduation! It was great to meet you all!!! :)

Ruger!

Not that he wanted it, but Ruger had his first "real" photo shoot this weekend. I brought out my nice camera and took some shots of him hanging out at my parents house and surrounding areas. I just couldn't resist his sweet puppy faces in these photos and had to share! He is such a joy to have in our home. It's quite a challenge to get photos of an active little puppy, but I think I might really enjoy pet photography now! :)

Wow, it's been forever since I've posted anything to my blog. Sorry for being so absent! Recently, I've been pretty busy, because Matt & I adopted a puppy! We drove all the way to South Carolina to pick up our little chocolate lab boy, who we named Ruger. He has been such a perfect pup for us. We're so thankful that we got to pick him up from the shelter early so he could spend Christmas with us & our family. I'm sure I'll be posting many more photos of him, but for now, here's the first "family photo" of us right after we met him!

Jessica & Steve's Engagement

I couldn't believe that the gentleman at the Oriole's park said we could take photos anywhere in the stadium last week for Jessica & Steve's engagement pics. It took me a second to get my ideas together, but we had so much fun crusing around the stadium and choosing the best spots for photos. Steve proposed to Jessica on opening day for the Orioles this year, and it was only fitting that we got some photos around the stadium. And because they were up for anything, I think my favorite photo is the first jumping shot! We also headed over to the Inner Harbor that day and took a few snaps before the wind and dark clouds left us heading for home and rescheduling the second part of our photo shoot.

This past Saturday, we met up at Centennial Park and got some beautiful fall backgrounds for our photos there. The two photo shoots really summarized their life here in Maryland. They are both from the Mid-west, and that's where they are getting married next year, so Jessica thought it would be great to have photos around Baltimore and their lives here.

I had a great time both days heading out with you two. I hope you love these photos, and I can't wait to show you the rest!!!

The Hiner Family

My great friend, Erin, emailed me a few months ago and said that her family was interested in getting a nice family portrait taken with their dogs. I didn't realize until I got to the photo site that there would be seven dogs all in one photo! It ended up being really successful and a lot of fun. I just love their Raven's family photo-beating up on the Cowboys fan! :)

Kellee's Senior Portraits

I really want to post more of these fun photos I took of Kellee and her boyfriend Mitch, so stay tuned! But for now, here are a few of Kellee's photos that I took this past Saturday. After two times of rescheduling due to rain, we were finally able to take Kellee's photos and only had to deal with a bit of wind, which actually made some of the photos really nice as her hair blew into the wind!

Kellee and Mitch were so sweet together, a ton of fun to photograph. They were ready for anything! I really LOVE the jumping shot of the two of them. They are both atheletes, (soccer and volleyball) so I think it really is a great photo to show the two of them having fun together and showing off their jumping skills!

Seminar with Joe McNally

Two Fridays ago, I had the opportunity to spend the day in Washington D.C. at a seminar lead by Joe McNally about lighting techniques. I am so thankful that I was able to go to the seminar, because I felt like everything he was teaching us was applicable to my own line of work. I already used some of his tips and techniques in the recent photos I've taken, especially with my senior portraits of Chet and Jake last weekend. I feel like my work is already improving and my lighting is getting much better with every photo shoot. His work is amazing. If you have a chance, check it out!!! Jake & Chet have been best friends since they were little, and it was so great that I was able to take Jake's photos as well. He brought awesome outfits (and even brought nice shoes for the photos!) We went all over the property taking photos with all of the backgrounds to match his outfits. Jake seems like he's definately an outdoor person; his hunting and lacrosse gear made perfect additions to the photos we took!

This past Sunday, I had a marathon portrait day. This is the first of four posts I'm going to be making this week from the weekend's photo shoots.

The morning started out great, as a photographed high school senior, Chet. From rugby to hunting gear, he had it all. It was a blast choosing different places to shoot to go with the outfits & props he brought along. He had a great look; I seriously think he should try to model for Abercrombie or American Eagle...maybe these photos can be used for his portfolio!!!

Sunday, I had a great time spending the afternoon with my friend and colleague, Amy, and her amazing family and new baby boy, James. I have heard so much about the little guy, and just this weekend got to finally meet him in person! Boy, is he cuter than a button!!! He was such a perfect model, laughing at mom throughout the photos of him by himself, and laughing at me when I tried to get his attention during the family photos. I think the photos the family are just precious, and I hope they capture the perfect memories of this stage in James' life!!!

Shannon and Steve were married last week on a beautiful Friday night at Stone Manor. The venue was amazing...everywhere I turned, there was another perfect spot for photos. Two Years!

Tuesday was Matt and my two year anniversary. Even though I was trying to fight off a bad cold, we still managed to have a really amazing dinner at Woodberry Kitchen. I can't believe we've already been married for two years. It seems like the time has flown by!
Just today, I'm starting to feel a lot better from my cold. I'm getting myself geared up for tomorrow night's wedding at Stone Manor Country Club with Shannon and Steve! I think the rain is going to pass through, and we'll still be able to take photos outside the breathtaking venue!!! Can't wait!

Yesterday, I photographed Megan getting ready for her wedding day. I arrived at her house, and she stepped down the hallway with this retro-styled birdcage veil & hairpiece that was to die for!!! Their house is a perfect place to take photos...everywhere I looked, I found great backgrounds to pose her bridesmaids & her around. These are some of my favorite photos. The last shot is one of my most favorite bridal photos, for sure!!!

Matt & I spent the rest of the day enjoying their gorgeous ceremony outside at Irvine Nature Center, and danced the night away with DJ Ernie from Mix of Sound. (If you ever need a DJ, talk to me...he's awesome!!!)

This afternoon, I took Megan & Josh's engagement photos at Loch Raven Reservoir close to Towson, MD. Even though it was a hot day, we got some great photos, and Josh enjoyed the photo shoot a lot because he was able to kiss Megan a bunch of times! We did some fun photos, and also got some great posed shots as well. They are getting married next Sunday, so some of these photos will be great to run during their slideshow at the reception. Matt & I are attending their wedding as guests, and I can't wait for next week & their big day!!!

Back from an Amazing Vacation

We just got back late Tuesday evening from North Carolina after one of the best vacations ever. It was so relaxing, even though we were busy white water rafting, horsback riding, tubing, and hiking the entire time. Just being with great friends in the mountains was the perfect escape, and a great way to finish the summer!!! Even though vacation is over, I can't help but think of the next time we'll be able to get together with our best friends.

Much Needed Vacation

Hi All! We are heading out this morning for North Carolina...renting a beautiful cabin in the woods with some best friends of ours. Stefanie & John's Wedding

Stefanie and John's wedding took place this past Saturday, and I had the honor of documenting their love throughout the day. Their ceremony was at the seminary in Gettysburg outside under a beautiful canopy of trees and a small path leading across the campus. We also got the chance to visit the Pennsylvania Memorial on the battlefield, and got some absolutely stunning photos!!! The bridal party was so awesome and were so helpful throughout the evening. The light after the ceremony gave everyone the most beautiful sunkissed glow...I can't wait to share them all with you, but for now, here are some snaps from the day, and as always, check my flickr page for even more photos of the preparations, ceremony, and reception!

Busy Weekend Ahead

I've been very bad at blogging lately, but I have been very busy getting wedding albums and CDs to my clients in the past few weeks. This weekend, I'm super busy, with a beautiful Gettysburg, PA wedding tomorrow, and two senior portraits on Sunday! I'm hoping for beautiful weather for all of them!!!
At work today, we traveled to the most beautiful equestrian school, and I thought I would post a photo of the sweet horse, Jay, that I took photos of.

Jenn & Matt's beautiful summer wedding took place this past Saturday on 7/11/09. There were little hints of the special date here and there on various decorations and programs. Jenn and I went to school together when we were little, and it was such an honor when she contacted me to photograph her wedding day. Jenn, you were absolutely beautiful, and Matt, you looked great in your tux! Hope you both have a blast in Disney World, and enjoy these photos before you head out tomorrow!!!

Tim & Keeley's Wedding

Tim and Keeley got married on a beautiful sunny day in June. At first, I was afraid we would have to fight off the rain, but all we had to fight off was some bugs and gnats outside by the church while we were taking photos outside.

Their day was filled with love. All of the little hand-made touches that Keeley put together really made everything come together with all of the decorations.

My favorite part of the entire day was definately the five or so minutes we had to take photos at Baker Park, where Tim proposed to Keeley. From the photos I took there, you could tell that they are destined to be together. Keeley wouldn't stop smiling, and the two of them hardly took their eyes off each other.

Tim and Keeley, I hope you love the photos I am sharing today. I am working on editing the other images, but I hope these photos help you to re-live your wedding day, and I hope they made your first week back at work a little sweeter!!!

Tim & Keeley Wedding Teaser

Not often do I get to travel to a special place in between the wedding and reception with a couple, but with Keeley & Tim, we actually went to the place where Tim proposed to take some photos on their wedding day before heading to the reception. Even though we didn't have much time, I noticed that as soon as they got out of the limo, they were smiling so much, and I knew it really meant a lot to them to be at Baker Park on their special day.
Tim & Keeley: you two look perfect together. I wish you the very best in everything. And I can't wait for the 4 of us to get together for the BBQ! You guys are great! Keep checking back for more images next week! :)

Sarah & Matt's Wedding Highlights

Sarah & Matt's beautiful wedding took place June 13, 2009 at Musket Ridge Golf Course in Myersville, MD. Both of them were perfect models, and we were able to go all over the venue to get amazing photos of the two of them as well as getting some fun bridal party photos as well.

Sarah & Matt, you two were awesome to work with. I hope you had an amazing time in Mexico, and I hope these photos are a nice welcome back to Maryland!!!
