Mini Reunion at Washington College

My amazing husband, Matt, was asked by his former Environmental Science professor to speak at a lecture series for Washington College this past week. We decided to make it a mini vacation, and headed to Chestertown, MD to spend some time walking around campus and the small town before dinner and the lecture. We also met up with Matt's friends from college who supported him and grabbed breakfast and lunch at their favorite restaurants before heading home the next day.
The college gave us great accommodations at their on campus historic house. It was such a nice treat to be on such a small campus. I'm so used to Towson, which is a pretty large campus, and Washington College is so close-knit and has a different feel to it. We also toured a lot of the new buildings that had been built since they were at school. (And of course, I took some photos!)
Matt did a great job at the lecture. He was so confident and prepared. I hope one day I'll be able to host a lecture as well on my expertise. It definitely was a great experience and trip!

Today is the Start of a New Outlook!

I'm so excited to be spending the day in Washington D.C. and attending a workshop hosted by my idol photographer, Jasmine Star, from California tonight. I've been following her blog for years, and she has been my motivation to succeed in creating my own style within my freelance business.
She is speaking around the U.S. about growing your photography business and creating a map of success. I'm so thrilled to have been able to get a ticket to this event and to finally meet her!!! I also can't wait to hear what she has to say and I can't wait to put it into place with my own business!

My mom and I are attending tonight's workshop after hopefully (not getting lost) and strolling around D.C. taking photos on such a gorgeous day! I'll be posting photos from the event next week! Can't wait!!!!!

Blog Ideas

Lately, I haven't been busy with freelance work, and it's been hard to figure out if I should/what I should post on my blog in the down time. I always wonder if my blog followers (all 12 of them) would like to see, and I would love some insight into what other types of images or posts you would like me to start writing about! I'm hoping to be much better about blogging this year, and my goal is to post at least once a week, if not more.
So please, feel free to leave me a comment about what types of things you would like to see on the blog! If you don't respond, I'll just keep posting cute pictures of my boy, Ruger :)

Meaghan & Matt's Wedding

Meaghan & Matt's wedding was the perfect end to the year. We started out at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel where Meaghan & her bridesmaids & moms prepared for the day. Everyone looked stunning in their dresses - the girls chose their own favorite black cocktail dress & patent leather pumps to wear and they carried gorgeous white bouquets, while Meaghan stood stunning in a custom dress with an amazing lace bodice & straps & carried a bouquet of breathtaking red flowers. Saint Mary's Church was equally breathtaking! The second I walked into the cathedral, I was ecstatic. It definitely is the prettiest church I've ever photographed a wedding in! Even though we didn't have much time in the church for photos, Meaghan & Matt had a trolley pick up the bridal party after the ceremony that took us to the pier and downtown Annapolis for some fun bridal party photos & more relaxed images of the bride and groom together.
From the picture of Meaghan's grandfather pinned to her bouquet & the Irish handkerchief, to her "something blue" where her bridesmaids wrote notes on her wedding shoes, to the draped & beautifully lit reception ballroom and the cupcake bar that matched the wedding colors - Every aspect of the wedding was planned out perfectly!
Meaghan & Matt changed out of their wedding shoes into bride and groom Toms to dance the night away with their guests. And good thing they did, because I think they were on the dance floor more than any couple I've photographed! Matt was by far the best groom to be on the dance floor almost the entire night, and Meaghan amazed everyone with her awesome rapping skills - reciting every word to Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind!"
Meaghan & Matt - You two were awesome! Thank you for choosing me as your photographer. I hope you love these highlights, & I can't wait for you to see the rest of these wonderful photos! Congratulations!!!
